Lumiox Deep Dive Review

Welcome back. It has been a while, and I am super pumped to be back and reviewing this awesome piece.
So, today I have the Luminox Deep Dive Automatic. This is a beastly, heavy duty 44mm tank. The case on the Deep Dive is 316L Stainless Steel with a black PVD coating. It wears heavy on, and I like it! This Luminox is certified to 500 meters... which is crazy deep! If there is anybody who reads this that has actually ventured to those depths, please share your story (and Pics) with the rest of us.
I have been dealing with Luminox for the last few years and am consistantly impressed with the pieces they come out with. I personally own the Recon Pointman, and the Color Mark Black Out and have been really happy with both. I use them when I go, hiking, fly fishing and camping.

Rolex Explorer II New Model Review

Gentlemen, 
Welcome back to CronoCommentary. I am so proud to bring this watch in for review today! The Rolex Explorer II ref. 216570 is the new, updated version of the classic Explorer model. It is bigger, badder, and sleeker looking than its predecessor. I have been wearing the Explorer II for about a month now, and can honestly say, that out do all of the models I have owned or demoed, this is in the top of my favorites from Rolex. It is right up there with the Sea-Dweller Deep Sea and the Stainless Steel Daytona. Better in some ways.
So in this post, I'm gonna drop some knowledge as well as talk about the watch. There isn't a ton to cover as far as functionality, but I will use this opportunity to talk a little about the materials and processes of Rolex in general.

HISTORY
The original explorer model was designed for Sir Edmond Hillary for his ascent to the summer of Mt. Everest. His was the first successful attempt ant Rolex was a part of that. The original model was a slight variation of the Oyster Date Just with no date, and an easier to read, luminous dial. When the original Explorer II as released, they added a 24 hour stationary bezel and the 24 hour hand.this came in handy for ambitious Trekkers, explorers, and travelers, especially those in environments that are in constant dark or light.

Rolex really made some amazing changes and upgrades to all of the new models in the line, and the Explorer II is no exception. the upgrades started with the release of the GMT Master II in 2006 and have been incorporated into every new release since. These include things like solid links in all of the bracelets, a heavier buckle, newly designed sapphire crystals and their patented Parachrom main spring. All of these engineering additions makes this watch more durable, more accurate, and more valuable. 
The case size for the Explorer II has been enlarged to a 42mm case, which in my opinion was a welcome change. All of the styling for the hands and dials have been updated giving the Explorer a much sleeker and cleaner look. The case and bezel don't wear as thick on the wrist as the Sub-Mariner and  WAY less than the Deep-Sea which makes it great for everyday wear. Even with suit cuffs. 

Overall, I am a huge fan of this piece!

Retrowerk German Diver - The Watch of Rapture.

Hey Guys,

Have you ever played the game Bio-Shock? If you have, you will easily be able to connect the dots on this one. The Retrowerk German Dive watch with compass is such a killer vintage, stylized piece, that is the only way I can really describe it. It is Bio-Shock-ey!

I love the styling of all of the Retrowerk models, but this one is by far my favorite. The size of the watch is massive, the presentation is impressive, and the finish is killer. The compass on this model is removable which is a great feature AND it makes wearing it a little more friendly. With the compass this watch is about 25mm thick! It's 17mm without the compass.

The case of this Retrowerk is 316L Stainless steel with a brushed Bronze finish that I love. I really want to get my hands on a Panerai Submersible 1950 with the bronze case... but we will have to get to that one later. ll of the Retrowerk models house Rhonda Swiss made movements and use high quality straps, buckles and components. In my opinion, these watches offer a killer look for the money, and a terrific quality for the $600 - $1200 price tag.

Ziiiro Aurora, it only took a month!

Well guys, I finally got the lead out and put another video together. This start to the year has been insanely busy and I have been a little short on time. The good news is, it looks like things are mellowing out and I can get back to having a little fun! Now, part of my fun includes doing these reviews and posting video. What can I say, I'm a nerd. I enjoy talking about watches as much as the other stuff my wife thinks is nerdy. She doesn't know any better, but that's not I fight I can ever hope to win.

So...... I digress. The Ziiro Aurora. It's a killer watch and I have really enjoyed having it as part of my collection. Here is the video. I hope you enjoy it and get one of your very own.

Ziiiro Aurora - Snow Teaser

Gentelmen,

Welcome back. So I wouldn't say that I got an overwhelming amount of questions... but I did get a few in regards to my review of the Ziiiro Gravity Ocean. The main question that I heard was "How easy is it to clean? I am considering the white one and want to know if it will be difficult to keep clean."

I didn't have a good answer other than, "well mine looks good... But it's blue" so how is that helpfully of someone who wants a white one? Um, uh, it's not! Soooooo I have purchased the Ziiiro Aurora in the Snow color. I LOVE my Gravity, and I think it will be cool to interchange the two completely different faces in the different colored straps. I will be wearing the Ziiro Aurora Snow for the next few weeks and reporting back. I hope it stays as clean looking as the Ocean, buy only real life "field testing" will let us know for sure.
